Star persona video feedback and learner response

feedback given by me:

Riki
www:

1)The use of subtitles allows the audience to clearly understand what’s happening throughout the transformation
2)The makeup made the transformation seems more realistic which allowed the audience to engage with the as the stages progressed
3)Using the frame meant that there was less negative space to keep the man focus on the participant
4)The pace of the instrumental used flowed nicely with the speed of the video
5)The dropping of her hair uncovered her true identity

EBI:

1)Zooming out was a nice way to end the video but try not to zoom back in
2)Try an improve the lighting used to enhance the detail on her face
3)Use a better camera so the quality of the video looks more professional

feedback given by others:

Jagraj
WWW:

1)The background music was perfect because it went perfectly with the pace of the video and it made the video more exciting.
2)Also the lighting was good because it shone bright on the main action which meant the audience could see what is going on.
3)Also the editing of the video was very good.
4)Also the make up of the video was very good because it had really depicted the character of horror and mystery.

EBI:
1)I think that the video could have been filmed landscape instead of portrait because the video is to small when viewed in big scree.
2)Also the background could have been a plain colour because the audience is getting distracted by the products and people in the background.
3)Also there was a lot of negative space so I think that you need to take up more of the camera.

Reflection:

1) Now reflect on your own work. How did your star persona mood board planning help clarify and develop your ideas?

The mood board that i created allowed me to clearly identify what persona i wanted to create for my project.

2) Thinking technically, how could you improve your work for future videos? (E.g. filming, editing, sound etc.)

In regards to future reference, I could improve my video by making the camera portrait instead of landscape which would enable the camera to remove the negative space allowing the audience to clearly focus on the transformation of the participant. Also in regards to the editing, I could have used transitions to add extra effects which would have captivated the audiences attention more.

3) Thinking in terms of mise-en-scene, what were the aspects of CLAMPS you used effectively in your video?

Costume
Language
Actors
Make-up
Props
Setting

In my opinion, I believe the actor used allowed us to create a 'zombie mermaid' with similar features that we were looking to portray from our theme. The make-up used on the participant allowed the transformation to look more authentic which adds a sense of realism.

4) What aspect of mise-en-scene (CLAMPS) could you have improved or done differently?

In my opinion, if we had used a mermaid costume and a trident, it would have allowed the audience to gain better understanding of the star persona which we tried to create.

5) What have you learned regarding the importance of mise-en-scene to character, narrative and star personas?

Each aspect of the acronym CLAMPS adds more depth to the persona of the character.

6) Finally. thinking conceptually or creatively, how could you improve the content of your video work in future? (E.g. planning, creative concept, timing etc.)

I could spend more time learning how to add transitions when editing videos, remove all props in the background that distracts the audience from the transformation and get my participant to stay focused and not eat throughout the video.
