Media Awards Film Review
write mini-reviews of your THREE favourite films and to post them up onto your coursework blog for the final lesson before half term (Friday 20/10).
Don't forget to consider all aspects of media language - cinematography, mise-en-scene (CLAMPS), sound, editing - using as much media terminology as possible (don't forget to highlight keywords); and also consider the film's use of genre conventions, how it will appeal to audiences (including dominant/oppositional readings), its use of narrative structure/roles, etc. Essentially, you should be applying all you've learnt on the course so far.
Click
My favourite movie that was shown on media awards was "Click" as it was more of a sci-fi/crime genre. The use of cinematography throughout the scnenes looked very sophisticated and their editing skills made the film look very professional. When the camera zoomed into the clicking of the characters fingers, the scene began to look disorientated and the sound slows down making it seem like some sort of optical illusion. The use of the first person view point in scenes when the actor falls down at the start and when the final speech is given makes the audience makes the audience feel part of the action packed drama. The fast paced action throughout the shootout in the dimly lit car park engages the audience as it's the first real pice of action the audience witnesses. As each shot is fired, the recall from the gun fire causes the actors to jolt back which adds realism to the scenes.
Voice Of the void
Euphoria
My third favorite film was Euphoria. The main element of the film in my opinion was the non diegetical voice overs. It clearly allowe the audience to follow the story line of the film. We could also see an established narrator, who effectively told the story whilst building up tension. The camera work was very effective as the use of high key lighting allowed the main character to appear helplessly laying on the grass.
